I recommend going to your local breakers (wrecking yard/dismantler)
and asking them to put out the request on the hotline. That way you
can find the one that is closest.

And do some research, B230FTs that will work were made from '85 to '94,
however the later motors are stronger and more desirable, although not
as important for a stock daily driver. Keep in mind to that the newest
motors are 15 years old, so finding one with under 100k on it will take
some luck. They do tend to hold up fairly well though. Also I think what
you are looking for is a "long block", as "core" generally refers to
something that is worn out but rebuildable.

yea, long block is prob the better term....the motor we now
have running has almost 300k miles on it, its been run hard,
over boosted, hit + red line a number of times...and been a real
workhorse....it is seeping and leaking oil from a number of seals,
and other places yet unidentified....mechanics tell me to exchange
4 another motor...we have good fuel system, ignition, air,
electrical,
etc...just looking for a long block that hase some miles left on it,
that
dosent leak oil....

thanx for the tips...

The changes took place first in '89 going to the updated block with the
thrust bearing in a different place, then again in '91(?) from the 9mm
connecting rods to 13mm rods, and '93 I believe is when turbo motors got
piston cooling oil squirters.

All are dependable motors, but if you plan on pushing it much beyond
about 200HP you'll want at least '89 or later, and for anything
approaching 300HP the '93 or later with oil squirters is recommended.

As I said though for stock use any year B230FT will bolt right in, the
only differences are the accessories.
