Thanks to ih8change & to James. I ordered an ECC from eBay & it just
arrived. Instead of installing the replacement, I just cannibalized it
for the thermistor. Works a charm.
For the record, the thermistor is (approximately) 25k outside today
where the air is about 3C, 12k inside at around 20C, and 7k if I breath
on it real hard. Something like the GB1074U-3-0 from Spectrum Sensors &
Controls looks about right
