re: 2000 C70, 2.4

Looking just to be sure, seems changing spark plugs is fairly simple even
for me to do.

Engine requires 5 plugs, gapped at .28.

This is the part number, and they usually come pregapped...

FR7DP, 4228

( BTW, I have a tool to check gap...)

Again, thank you!

[No idea about your car, but from years experience gapping plugs...]
Gap seems a bit much, or that's a typo.
Better double check that...

Sounds about right, it's about what the gap on a 240 is supposed to be.
"Modern" cars (as in made in the last 20-30 years or so) with electronic
ignition use relatively large gaps compared to the old Kettering
ignition systems.

I recommend putting a bit of anti-seize compound on the threads, and be
very careful not to crossthread them or over-tighten. They thread
directly into aluminum which is much softer than the threads on the
spark plugs.

the online maint manual at

https://www.customers.volvocars.com/...0_09.htm#pg123

gives this info

Distributor ignition system
Firing order: 12453
Distributor ignition setting: Not adjustable
Spark plugs: Champion RC8PYP (or equivalent)
Spark plug gap: 0.03" (0.75 mm)
Tightening torque: 18.4 ft. lbs. +/ 3.7 ft. lbs. (25 Nm +/ 5 Nm)

Replacing spark plugs

The spark plugs should be changed every 30,000 miles (48,000 km).
However, city driving or fast highway driving may necessitate changing
after 15,000 miles (24,000 km) of driving. When installing new plugs,
be sure to fit the right type and use correct torque, see
"Specifications". When changing the plugs, check that the suppressor
connectors are in good condition. Cracked or damaged connectors should
be replaced. When changing the spark plugs, clean the terminals and
the rubber seals.

Yes, typo, .028... all of this info, btw, was gained by googling and finding
enthusiasts.. It was pointed out to me, that this is in error...

this car calls for .03 gap...
