Selling my 740 GL, it's got 86,030 on the clock at this precise moment,
fully serviced, 11 months MOT, five months Tax.
It's in Dunfermline, Scotland. New exhaust for the MOT, everything works on
this car including the headlight wash wipes, and the tailgate lock.
Looking for £500 or thereabouts.

Sold my 1988 161000 mile 740 GL estate last year for £60. 3 weeks MOT,
3 weeks tax, needed new front discs and pads, last recorded service
1999.

Not quite in the same league then is it ???? Years MOT is worth £250, 6
months road tax £90, mileage with history at 86,000 not 161,000, everything
working A1, no rust etc etc. Seems fair to me. If you want an auction price
go to the auction and gamble.

If you could hang on to it until my '87 740 wears out, I'll have for
the asking price, no haggling. Should only be about another 15 years
at this rate.

In 15 years, my car will still be the same, pass the MOT etc. etc. If I
haven't sold it it by then, it's yours !!! but probably for £2000 cause it
will be a classic by then LOL

If it wasnt 100 mile drive (200 round trip) I might have been interested
in having a look - it sounds a nice clean example .

But given petrol prices the way they are I think £350-£400 is a bit more
realistic , Assume your selling it for this reason .

you;d be better off contacting the Volvo Owners Club and advertising it
there, demand for a clean, straight good order will be alot higher with
them.

Tim..
