Need Help, thinking of selling the 850

I have a '93 850 with 161,000 miles and really I love it, it's just got
a bunch of different problems that I'm hoping are common enough, and
can be fixed. For starters it randomly loses power while I'm driving,
just while I'm going along, it will all of a sudden stop going, and
then when I step on the brakes it stalls. It starts right back up
after a minute or so, but still this can cause some hefty problems on
the highway. The second thing is that the accelerator (for lack of a
better term) sticks in the winter if I dont let it warm up for at least
an hour (while we're on that it also takes a really long time to warm
up). I've taken it to a bunch of places and everyone says it's the
throttle cable and there's nothing they can do. Is this related to the
throttle linkage problem I keep reading about? Any insight into these
two problems would greatly help, as I'd really rather fix it and keep
it.

If it takes a long time to warm up then the thermostat is probably shot,
that's a common problem with any car. If the throttle cable is sticky
then pull it out and lube it, or just replace it, they're not terribly
expensive. What places have you taken it? I don't know what they mean by
"nothing they can do", it's not like the part is permanantly bonded to
the car.

My thoughts as well- "Nothing we can do" translates to, "for the
amount of money we would make, ordering the part is just way too much
trouble for us."

A sticky throttle cable is a safety issue and should be addressed. it
might be failing internally and could possibly stick with an open
throttle causing some serious consequences.

The bad thermostat would make a lot of other problems difficult to
diagnose as well as creating all sorts of problems, particularly in
cold weather.
