Has anyone had to replace their back shocks as early as 50,000 miles. This is
my 6th volvo and never had to think about this before. Actually when I bought
the car off lease at 34,000 miles the car was fine but I had the impression
that it swayed slightly on bumps, gave yu the feeling that if there was ice,
etc it might slide. However, when took the car for dealer checkup and told
them while it was under warranty they told me NO problem. Next visit however
as soon as warranty expired they told me needs NEW shocks. I was naturally
angry and had them replaced at this last checkup but did get a slight discount.
Of course now I can tell that was the problem right from the beginning

miles is a rip...i would guess you should get @ least 100,000
miles...typical s80 bull&^%$...a nickle here, a nickel there...dont
hit a pot hole...it cost me $500 for a rim...headlight
crack?.....$400.....get a nice late 90's 960...rwd...or a turbo...and
fix it up...imho...

You think a 960 headlight won't cost you $400? LOL.

Cheapest I've found for the older style ones is $315/ea. The newer ones
are probably more expensive.

As for the original poster, he should file a claim with Volvo. If you've
got evidence that the problem existed before the warranty expired, Volvo
is obligated to do the work under warranty. Likely the scammer... er..
dealer felt that Volvo wouldn't reimburse them enough, but the
customer would. Talk to your state's attorney general and your local
news station's consumer activist as well.

the 960 parts are expensive, ea?...i didn't know that...i guessed they
were like the 940 parts...ebay seems to have a lot of the mid 90's
parts, lenses, heatlights, etc.....
