Couple a' S80 questions

Hello,

How difficult is it to replace the bulbs or LEDs backlighting the
center console on an '01 S80? The lights around my drivers side
temperature controls are dead, and it's buggin' the hell out of me.

There is often a clunking sound from the rear end when going over bumpy
roads - almost as if something in the truck is knocking around. The
trunk is empty and the spare is well secured, so I'm inclined to
believe this is suspension. Any ideas on what I should check?

Thanks,
Randolph d'Amore

I had a clunking sound that I thought was coming from the rear. I even
checked the exhaust hangers and could not find a thing. It actually was some
front-end parts that needed replacing (I believe a tie-rod was one of them).
Have your front suspension checked by a dealer (two regular shops couldn't
figure it out).

To rpl the bulbs in the ccm you have to remove the shifter cover then
remove the 2 screws holding the ccm in place then very gently raise the
bottom edge up 7 pull it is held in place by 3-4 spring clips if you
pull to hard you will break the slots in the ccm once removed you can
easily remove the connectors on the rear do this with the key OFF unless
you want to set a srs code in the car your local Volvo dealer should
have the bulbs in stock

The noise in the rear is most likely one or both of the rear sway bar
links common problem for this you need to have the weight of the car off
the ground not that hard to rpl yourself approximate cost of rear links
$45.00 each we get 1 Hour of labor to change do both links @ the same
time because if one is bad & one is good now it will not be long before
that one fails to

Is for the New York City Firemen who lost their lives on September 11,2001.
The official count is 343, but there was also a volunteer who lost his life
aiding in the initial rescue efforts. And I will never forget them as
long as I live,
nor should any American.
