V40 starter problem (also) getting real expensive

I saw the starter problem that "inventor" had, and wish mine could be
diagnosed so easy.
Right now, out in the driveway...I'd put money on it that my V40 will start
right up.
But, every month or so, turn the key and .....nothing! no clicks of
solenoid or dimming of lights....just like as if the shifter is not fully in
park. Someone suggested that may be the problem...but last time it wouldn't
start, I also tried it in neutral, and nothing.
The fix???? Come back a day or sometimes two days later, and it will start
right up.
My only guess is the key sender that protects against phoney keys is not
working correctly??.

Getting expensive and more so...tiring to forever walk home (3 times now!)
It always works fine when I bring it to a mechanic...hard to fix when it
works fine!

....Dave

When the problem is in the immobilizer the immo-light must burn or blink.
When its not, more likely that the problem is in your starting circuit.
ignitionlock starterrelais startengine.
The problem can also be an losen earth contact at your gearbox or an battery
contact.
You have to messure the voltage on several points in the starting circuit
when the problem occures.
Are there any fault codes in the engine computer or the immobilizer?
I understand its an automatic gearbox, is the P and N contact already
checkt?
Good luck with finding your problem.
