I'M LOOKING FOR A VIEW OR DIRECTIONS ON LINING UP THE THE TIMING MARKS ON A 98 V70 WITH A 20 VALVE 5 CYLINDER TURBO WITH A MECHANICLE TENSIONER I BELIEVE THE CAM MARKS WERE ON PART OF THE PLASTIC COVER THAT GOT CUT OFF WHEN THE BELT STARTED TO RUB AGAINST IT. IS THERE ANY WAY TO LIGHN IE UP WITHOUT THIS

lol. nope!

If you have removed the belt before lining up the crank marks, and then
making your own cam sprocket marks, then your knackered.

Tim..

The electric pencil mark on the exhaust cam should be at 1:00 o'clock,
the intake cam should be at 11:00 o'clock, the mini notch in the valley
of the crank pulley should align with the casting mark on the block.
This is the assembly position only and NOT TDC. This is allow for some
cam movement for alignment purposes without worrying too much about
valve to piston contact.

If you were to rotate the motor from this point until the intake cam
mark aligned with the notch marked 0 on the plastic cover you would be
at TDC, if you need an igniton timing reference.
