Miscellaneous new Volvo rants and commentary

    I picked up a 2004 V70 rental today while my 94 850 t-wagon was in the
    shop.
First observation: The switchblade key/door transmitter takes up more
space than my 94's entire set of keys, chain, and transmitter. This
thing is nearly as big as my cellphone. It needs it's own belt clip.

I saw a refundable $50 item on the invoice: A "diagnosis fee".
This is what they charge just to tell you why some fault light is on.
(With my 94, I plug a wire into a hole, press a button, read the
    blinks and look it up.)
All the fault lights on the new models need to be merged into one big
light with a dollar sign on it.

Heated seats are wonderful.. Are there any retrofits for 94's?

The 04 auto trans shifts MUCH more softly/slowly than my 94. I prefer
the harder shifts. (less trans clutch slipping, less wear.)

The 04 seems quieter / stiffer. Speed bumps have much less effect than
    on my 94.

Not as quick, but then it doesn't have the turbo..

2004: I can get my eyes level with the windsheild centerline. Why, in
the "R" models is the seat 3" too high in the lowest position?

Conclusion: I'll have my 1994 restored instead of buying a new one..
