My cam shaft oil seal is leaking, at first just a little, but now it is
really coming out. The oil burns on the manifold and yesterday it was
smoking. If only the seal is bad, what needs to be done, work wise and
$ wise? It is the front seal. The car has 167,000 miles, original
engine. Other that this it runs good.

    Thanks,

    Marvin

Check the seal @ the rear of the cylinder head this is
what usually pops out while you are checking to confirm
that this is the problem change the Flame Trap Hose &
Nipple if this is clogged this will cause the rear seal
    to pop out

Assuming you're talking the front, you need to remove the timing belt
and cam pulley. You can then pull the seal out directly, or take the
valve cover off and the front cam cap and the seal will then come out
with no effort. Make sure you put a little gasket sealer between the
head and cap when you reassemble.

If you're talking the rear, then do as Glenn says. Especially make sure
that the PCV system is clear.

by Marv dropped his wrench, scratched his head and
    mumbled,
If the cam seal is leaking, then there is oil on the timing belt. This is
a bad thing. The belt should be changed at the same time.
