Did anyone get anywhere with this identifying what a suitable Castrol /
Duckahams / Morris' oil would be any good in the M56 etc boxes??

    Hi Tim,
I have a 1997 V70 diesel turbo and asked this query a few weeks back - not
sure if this is the same thread..

The answer I arrived at from most people was that in this manual box it was
a fully synthetic 10W-40 car engine oil,
which I used and it has been fine for the lat 1000 miles... feels the same
    etc...

Thanks Nick, indeed this is the thread i was chasing- wondered if you had
    found anything out.

Think its time to change the 100k / 11yo oil in our S70....

Did you just use some propriartry fully synth 10w-40 ??

Well, I was going to use one of the names ( Shell, Mobil etc) but my (
ex-Volvo) mechanic had already filled his pot with Comma stuff when I got
there, so he used that - it was the fully synthetic, so I wasn't too
bothered, and he did say he's used it for years and reckons its fine - I'd
still use a big name another time though..

I think it took just under 3 litres - or maybe pints - can't remember - one
tip someone else suggested was to remove the fill plug first, just to make
sure that it is removable, else you could drain it, find it seized and be
unable to refill ! Mechanic said he'd never encountered that but did anyway
    , just in case !
