I'm driving along and then all of a sudden 'nothing', engine is not
running. No dash lights come on until I shift into 'N'. Then I get
them all.

Wait about one minute, restart and continue like nothing has happened.
This has happened three days in a row. At different distances each
time. One at about ~40 of 55 miles, one at ~33 of 55 miles, and one at
~25. I think I'm pressing my luck, but with what should I look at
first. All while traveling secondary roads 25 -> 55 mph.

This has only happened on my way home from work, never on the way in.
This is interesting because I drive the Highway into work. >65 mph.

Thanks

Charlie

What year is it?

Do other electrical accessories continue to operate? Does the tach
needle drop like a rock?

If it has a lockup torque converter (or if it's manual, but since you
say shift into N I assume auto) then the momentum of the car can keep
the engine spinning and prevent the warning lights from coming on.

Intermittent faults like this are a classic symptom of a failing engine
speed sensor, the location of which depends on year, or the ignition
module, for which the same is true.
