On an 240GL Wagon, 1984 model, are all the bulbs in the rear (turn,
break, reverse, etc...) supposed to be 21W, or is one of them 5W, and
if so, which one?

I've gotten mine all mixed up.

THanks
Eric

The globe sockets are different. The 5W globe belongs in the
taillight position.

In North America, from 1981 to 1984 (new style taillights) the upper one
is the taillight, 5W. All the others are 21W. Starting in 1985 model
year, there were rear foglights (21W) in the upper position, and the
lowest position was occupied by a double filament 21/5W bulb for brake
and tail. Note that the 5W bulbs take a taller socket to position the
smaller bulb into the correct position relative to the reflector. And
there's different size tabs and blocker pins so you can't put the wrong
socket in the wrong position, but after 20 years of use, this safeguard
may have been broken/melted.
