I had noticed the gas pedal being a bit sticky lately but today I got
a nasty surprise when my V70 raced to 5,000 rpm after starting up. I
removed the cover over the throttle mechanism and saw that the casing
was pulled back from where it enters the bobbin to reveal the inner
    cable.

I fiddled a bit and was able to limp home at a bit over idle rpm. I'm
not sure how this mechanism is supposed to look, but I wonder what is
supposed to hold the casing snug against the bobbin? There were a
couple of bits of plastic rattling around loose there, surrounding the
cable, looking like they might have broken loose.

Is this likely to be fixable by simply replacing the cable? How
difficult is this for an amateur owner/fixer?
