C70 auto tranny dipstick?

Just bought a 2001 C70 turbo. Great car, but I want to check fluid levels
and had a heck of a time finding the auto tranny dip stick. I finally found
what looks like a yellow plug deep within the driver's side of the engine
compartment. The "plug" says ATF on it. My old 850 had a much more readily
accessible dipstick. Am I looking at the right thing? It seems that one
would have to remove several of the air handling pipes to get to this to
check the fluid level, let alone add fluid.

I'm almost thinking that there should be an extension on this????

    Thanks for your help,

Vancouver dropped his wrench, scratched his head and mumbled,
    [snip]

Nope. That's the way they came. Neat, huh?

    Yeah - right.

Its a Volvo don't want you to service this item because after 80K
miles they can sell you another one.

Both times that I've serviced volvo tranny's they've been replaced within
the next 10,000 miles. DON'T service them.
