Hi,
I'm considering to add the 9" subwoofers which are optional in my C70. Mine
has a SC901 radio. Related questions for which I'm loking for a link or
hint:
- where's the amplifier located?
- whare would the subwoofer amp go?
- anybody mounted [non-volvo] subwoofers in this type of car?
- how to connnect the subwoofer amp?
Regards & Thanks, Wytze

Well in my '99 C70 the amp is located in the boot.

Facing the open boot, there should be a deep storage bin on the left
hand side - the amp is behind that panel...incidentally, that deep
storage bin can come out and it's where the 6 disc changer is meant to
go - the mounting brackets and cable are already there.

Of course, the location of the amp might vary between years...

If the 9" subs are an option on yours then I'm guessing there's already
space for the subs and the amp, much like there is for the CD changer.
So fitting non Volvo ones shouldn't be a problem - you'll find several
well known in car hifi manufacturers that sell speaker replacements
designed to fit in most of the popular cars these days.

There's all sorts of custom sub options but the quickest and easiest is
to use the spaces and mounts already put there by Volvo.

I've never mounted 9" subs in the C70 so I don't know where they or the
sub amp would mount. I have, however, looked round the inside of mine
and I can't find any likely mounting places - either that means I've
already got them or there's no option for them on the year of my C70.

If you happen to know or find out I'd be very interested to know...

Hope that helps,

Andrew

Isn't there an option to put them into the rear seats?

I don't know.

Behind or to the side perhaps...but if they were in the seats then
they'd be damaged by the seat occupants sitting on them, surely ?

Whilst I agree with you - I am sure I have seen in the volvo parts
catalog subs in the backs of the rear seats

Hi,
A quote from the Volvo C70 sales folder Austria - translated in English (to
the best of my knowledge :-)):
"Premium Loudspeaker System ... in cooperation with the Danish loudspeaker
manufacturer Dynaudio specially made for the C70...With the C70 cabriolet
you can install additionally two subwoofers behind the rear seat rests..."
Their is a picture of a speaker stating "9" Subwoofer (Volvo C70 cabriolet".
Intention to add these was the reason for my original posting.

So, I gues its only for the convertable.
