Can't find any drain / fill / level plugs like in M46 and M47...
Am I missing something or is it not possible without removing
    the box?

Should be in the rear of the gearbox. An upper for filling and checking the
oil level and a lower for draining it. 1.75 litres of synthetic oil is used.

  5. Volvo do not recommend any oil changes for the M90 gearbox or the AW30-40/43
as they are both filled with fully synthetic ATF. However, I recommend that
the ATF is changed out every 100,000 miles to my Volvo Owners Club (UK)
members as a precaution and to prolong the life of the gearboxes.

    All the best, Peter.

  7. They arent easy to find with the transmission installed.
The filling plug is on the rear right of the gearbox, almost just right of
where the axle comes out of the gearbox. Its a 24 mm bolt.
The empty plug in the middle, just in front of the metal plate where the
gearbox is bolted to, dont know its english name. Its difficult to reach,
but is possible with a 24 mm wrench.

Thanks! Got it! Just as you said, the drain plug was a little "offset"
    but
it was easy with the right tools. There was only 1 liter in the box! I
    have
never seen any leaks. In went exactly 1,75 liters, then it started to
    overflow. Again, thanks Niels.
