I found the problem in my car (overheating). The top heater hose was
completely out of the socket. How much of a job is it to get this thing
connected properly? Is it a do-it-yourself task, a mechanic task or a Volvo
dealer job? It appears that a portion of the housing could be broken on the
    firewall.

    Thaks for your help.

Yes really need to know the car. If its a UK 940 non-air con, and its the
heater control valve that is broken, I can help, it is possible DIY but
tricky. I have written an article on it, its yours if you want it.
