Hello all, I have a 1992 Volvo 240 with 178,000 miles. the other day the instrument cluster lights went out so I pulled the whole cluster out. and low and behold the PCB board broke where the white L shaped connector attaches to it. Major bummer. So I ordered a "new" one for the local junk yard. I received a unit that came from a station wagon. I didn't know that would cause a difference in mileage readings vs. the sedans. Ah joy. So after reading about on the net I used some Super glue and repaired my PCB board and soldered some new jumper wires to the various pins on the board. Took it for a test drive. Speedo works, and odomitor works. Great, then the transmission dropped into second and started acting like it was slipping. Tach was reading about 4.5 grand and the car was slowing down. So I checked the fluid that's a little over full, but looks good color wise. The over drive solenoid was giving me an issue last week but i worked on that as well with a new electrolytic cap and tested the solder joints. your can hear it click when you push the button. So I don"t know what caused this transmission issue. It normally shifts just fine.
