Help with vin number

Hi, can someone please help me to properly identify my engine? I have a 1994 940 Turbo. Everything I have read so far tells me my engine is a B230FT, however, the engine code in my vin number is 86, which identifies with the B23ET,which i have not been able to find in any 940 model. Can someone please clarify this problem? Thanks.

A 1994 940 Turbo in North America is going to be the B230FT. I wouldn't worry too much about the VIN code decoding differently, since decoders mix up the older names. The final word is the engine number plate on the block, so check that and post what it says if you want to be sure.
