How to unlock a jamed Tailgate of 2001 XC70 Cross Country ?

    Does anyone have clear steps as to how to unlock the tailgate. I have been told access from inside back carpet panel ..
    1 what tools are needed
    2 how to proceed
    3 are replacement part needed etc
