No power on my Volvo V40 on LPG and Gas

  1. I have a ´02 Volvo V40 with LPG and Gas (Bi fuel) with no power at all.
Hitting the trottle on 2500 rpm in the highest gear has nearly affect on the
speed. At 4000 rpm the reaction is better...
Can someone tell me how i can increase the power without spending a lot of
    money?

    Thanks in advance

    Willem

Does this only happen on LPG? Is it running OK on petrol/gasoline?

What sort of LPG system is fitted?

  3. Hi Stewart,

its happen both on gas and lpg. The lpg system is a G3 system with no loss
    of power (!!?!!).
I spoke to a mechanic at the Volvo dealer. He told me that there was nothing
    wrong.....

This implies that it's not related to the LPG installation. In fact it
also implies that it's not related to either fueling system.

This really only leaves valves and valve timing, or the ignition
system. Unfortunately I have no experience of the V40, so can't
    comment further.
Others on here may be able to help you further.

  5. Is there power in lower gears?
Are there any error codes on the electronic control units....sounds
like it may be in some sort of 'limp home' mode. Does the engine
management light turn on with the ignition and then extinguish after
    starting the car?
Perhaps there's a major mechanical fault like loss of
compression....but I think you need to let the mechanic have a tinker.

  6. Hi Conrad,

It seems to me that there is enough power in the lower gears. In 4th en 5th
gear there is less power available.
No control- or warning lights blinking....

Stewards suggestion that the ignition is the cause of the power loss seems
    to me more likely.

    Thanks!
