    Hello all,

I recently purchased the Volvo-manufactured pet/cargo barrier for my
2001 V40 and I plan to install it this weekend. Before I go through
the effort and cut through the ceiling fabric to install the hinges,
can someone confirm that once it's installed, it can be flipped up
against the car ceiling when not in use? The Volvo website say that
it can, but from looking at it, I don't see what would keep it from
just falling back into the down position. I expected it to come with
some sort of latch that would hold it against the ceiling, but nothing
like that was included. What gives?

Nobody at my local Volvo dealership has installed one of these before
and the cryptic installation guide is not helpful. Thanks in advance
for any information that you can provide.

the effort and cut through the ceiling fabric to install the hinges,

You have to cut? You sure you don't remove a couple of blanking plates
revealing captive nuts into which you screw the rail end pieces?
If it's the same type of thing as the 850, a pair of small gas struts
hold it firmly in either position, there are no latches provided or
    needed on mine.
Mine's an 850 one but I would seriously recommend you check for those
blanking plates in the roof first, cutting fabric doesn't sound right at
    all.
