Radiator fan not running

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Bengt Persson, Apr 13, 2005.

  1. Got this 740 -92 B230F with electrical fan that never runs.
Car overheats sometimes in traffic jams.
If i connect the two wires on the thermostat switch on the top
of the radiator on the passenger side the fan runs.
How do I change that switch? Is it just to pull it out of the
radiator and press in a new one?

    Thanks, Bengt.

Yes, but of course, coolant will leak out. And be hot and pressurized,
if the car's been run recently. Allow the engine to cool, and remove
the cap on the coolant expansion bottle to release any pressure.
Clamping the hose from the rad to the lower expansion tank will minimize
    coolant loss.

Replace tt with t (twice!) and remove parentheses to email me directly.
(But I check the newsgroup more often than this email address.)
