Some time ago my wife ran her remote through the clothes wash. I took it
apart, dried it, did dances around it by the moonlight, but it was
    gone...alas.

Has anyone had any experience, hopefully positive, in buying remotes through
ebay or from any other source and having them successfully (and cheerfully)
coded by a dealer so they work. I have talked to the dealer several times
and of course I get scowls and guffaws, as they are trying (rather
successfully in my case, so far) to protect their market. They point out
that if they "code" and it doesn't work.....it's my problem. I'm reluctant
to gamble $100 - $200 only to end up with a piece of junk but on the other
hand I'm equally reluctant (maybe the word is cheap) to shell out $300
Canadian for a new remote that is guaranteed to work.

    Decisions, decisions.......when will it end?

    Thanks for your thoughts,

    Gerry

They are right if the code provided does not match the remote you just
purchased a paperweight the best way is going to the dealer & purchasing
the remote your self & quite possibly the parts person may be able to
slightly discount the remote for you & then have the service department
    program it for you

    Try this place:
    www.keylessride.com/
I have purchased two remotes from them for Volvos and both are
excellent. Better range and smaller than the OEM remote and probably
about on third the price. They come with programming instructions too.

    Cheers,
