I have a new shift lever cover but can't remove the old one. How do you
remove the shift lever knob so new cover can be installed?
I see a small screw on the left side of know but after removing it and
pulling forward the knob does not seem to want to come off. Does it take a
lot of pressure or is there some other way?
    Thanks for any assistance.

If this is an automatic, there should be two screws at one end that you
remove, then it tilts up and unclips from the other end. You'll have to
remove the shift knob too, IIRC you use a wrench to hook the bottom of
it and tap that with a hammer to pop it off, watch for the spring which
will likely shoot out of the button. Oh remove the overdrive lockout
button first so you don't rip the wires out.

    Thanks, James.
The shift knob is what I was having trouble with. It's an automatic
transmission. There is a screw on the left side, I think. After unscrewing
this..I did not know how much pressure to exert to remove the knob. The one
time I tried it seemed like there were a lot of wires underneath the know
and I did not want to try and remove.
