The air bag light on my 2000 S40 has come on twice in the last 3 years.
Both times the fault was the connector under the drivers seat for the SIPS
airbag had been damaged. The dealer was able to "repair" the connector both
times, but said this most recent time that if it comes on again I will need
a new SIPS air bag. I asked the service dept. what the problem seems to be
and they said that the connector is getting "crunched" when we move the
power seat back and forth (I'm 5'11 and my wife is 5'1"). When I asked them
what we could do to keep this from happening again they said to "be more
careful when you move the seat". I asked them how you "carefully" move a
power seat and they just kind of looked at me as that suggestion obviously
makes no sense. Anyone else have similar problems or suggestions????
