    Hello,

Does anyone know what the speaker in the center of the dash on an '01
S80 is for? To the best of my knowledge it's not used by the stereo,
and I don't believe the '01 S80 had an option for any kind of
entertainment package that would necessitate a center channel.

I am planning to upgrade my stereo system in the not too distant future
and would rather not spend the money to upgrade a speaker that's never
    used.

    Thanks,
    Randolph

  2. I have a '99 S80. I found in the owners manual a radio model (i think the
H-810) or something uses that center speaker as the center channel in a
dolby pro logic system within the car.

The H-611 radio (the one I have) does not utilize that speaker, and my
understanding is that no speaker is present in that case.

Good stuff. I figured it was for an option I didn't have, but I wanted
to be sure. Thanks for the info.

On a side note, does anyone have a recommendation for a good head-unit
that fits the look and feel of a Volvo? Most quality after-market
stereos seem to be aimed at spastic teenages with a love of shiny
lights, garish colors and terrible, terrible aesthetics.

    Thanks,
    Randolph
