S80 Volvo Schematics Neded Help!!

Discussion in 'Volvo S80' started by News.Copper.Net., May 3, 2007.

  1. I have a 1999 S80 Volvo Engine it is a 2.9L. I have no information on it and
the closest mechanic is 100 miles away and they will not give me any info at
all. I need the timing settings, torque, etc. The service center says they
can't tell me what it is because it ids set by the computer. I think they
are B.S,ing me. Everything has settings or notches for the timing doesn't
it? If any one has a service manual with this in it I would be glad to
purchase it for a reasonable price. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Charles.

  2. Ah, for the old days (maybe...). Since the '90s standard practice has been
to use a crank angle sensor that tells the ECU the actual moment the crank
goes through some particular spot - #1 TDC or whatever. The ECU then uses
that info to determine when to fire the injectors and the spark. Many
engines still show timing marks for troubleshooting purposes, but the actual
timing can't be changed except by replacing defective parts.

Years before we lost the ability to affect mixture, then idle speed, now
timing. In Toyota hybrids even the engine RPM and load are controlled by the
    hybrid computer. That's progress!

Is it the timing belt you need help replacing?
Is it the B6294S or B6304S3 engine?

  4. If you want to have a long lasting information source for repairing, go into
ebay and shop for a VADIS-DVD copy. Even manuals are availble there.

    Hope this helps Charles,

Good Luck replacing your S80s' timing belt. Be careful. I assume you're
    experienced.

(Of course I will accept no responbility supplying this. Everything is
    in your own responsibility.)
