    Hi

    Could someone post the routine for getting rid of the service light. At the
    same time, the book recommends 12k servicing....I usually stop in for an
    oil/filter at a non-Volvo quick oil change location at 5k + or - , but they
    don't change the service light sequence. Why does it come on before the 12k
    book required servicing??

    Thanks,

    Gerry

  2. According to this small document:
    http://www.volvoxc.com/resources/how-to/pdf/xc_sri_reset_procedures.pdf

    Resetting the Service reminder indicator (SRI), model years -2001

    * Ignition position I
    * Press and hold in the reset button for the trip odometer
    * Ignition position II
    * The service reminder indicator (SRI) starts flashing when the reset button for the trip
    odometer has been pressed for 10 seconds
    * Release the reset button for the trip odometer within 5 seconds. The instrument gives an
    audible signal when resetting has succeeded.
    Note! If the trip meter reset button is not released within 5 seconds the indicator is not reset.
    However the indicator will stop flashing.
    Not sure about Volvos, but many of the cars at our shop can have the service
    interval reset to whatever time or mileage you want (using the proper scanner).
    Maybe yours has already been reset?
