hey everyone. I was wondering if there is a trick to taking off the
rear door panels of a '89 volvo 740 in order to get at the riveted-in
speakers so that i can replace them with some better ones.

    thanks in advance

I haven't removed mine on my 87 740, but if they are rivited then a
drill and a bit should do just fine.

Where the inner release handle, there's a quarter turn plastic screw.
Remove it, then the trim it holds down and the power window switch
    Unscrew the lock knob.
On the bottom of the panel, underneath, you need to crawl, there's a
couple of white plastic clips to pry out with a screwdriver.
Slide the warning lamp lens out by moving it rearwards
Slide the speaker grill forwards (You've probably already done this)

Note to people with older cars: The warning lens hides a clip that's
built into the warning lens on this car.
The speaker grille pulls off, (does not slides forward) and there's a
    screw behind it.

Replace tt with t (twice!) and remove parentheses to email me directly.
(But I check the newsgroup more often than this email address.)
