V70 Tailgate Year 2000

    The tailgate mechanism is no longer working and I need to open the boot without destroying the trim on the inside.

    There is a cover on the outside which the manual says is a lock cover. This has a plastic 'bung' which I and the garage cannot remove.

    Is there any other release mechanism?
