My volvo 960 electric drivers seat has jammed in the furthest back
position. As a result I cannot get to the bolts on the rear runners to
fully remove the seat to get at the drive to either unjam the mechanism
or to change the electric motor.
I think a box spanner may not be small enough to get into place to
    loosen the bolts
    Any ideas?

  2. Get hold of the manual winding handle which will enable you to wind the seat
forward to a position where the motor might pick up a signal again. The
usual cause for this is the feedback potentiometer for motor rack position.

    All the best, Peter.

    hand crank for seat motor?

you referred to a hand crank to manually move electric seats that are not working -- please be more specific about what it is, where it connects to the seat. alternatively someone suggested a flat head screwdriver that can also do the job, but neglected to say where to use it!
