I phoned Volvo to get our radio code and our VIN number is not on their
database, they think it is imported - Volvo 240 gle K reg

I have heard that the radio Volvo TD603 model can be uncovered using serial
number and the placings of diodes.

Is there anyone that can help with this please?

    Serial - VO1520C6014006C

Picture of diode layout - www.photoscene.co.uk/diode.jpg
Sorry for the quality of the picture, my camera is playing silly beggars.

A search on Google will bring up lots of companies and individuals who
will sort this out for you.

If you're near Birmingham, UK try calling Wilkes Motor Company on 0121
777 5021. I saw someone at his garage decoding a radio while David
    (Wilkes) was servicing the vehicle.

Another alternative would be to look for an in car entertainment company
who should be able to decode it for you, or put you in touch with
someone local who can do it.

Nope - they'd be hidden away inside the radio.

Thanks. I did call a volvo dealer a few days ago, but because of the
problem of the VIN not recognised in the UK, it was not on his database.

I took my Ford radio to a Ford dealer where I was charged £20 for the
privilege of being given the wrong number. You stand a better chance
with a car-radio specialist than you do with a car dealer.

Hello Roy, thankyou for the link. I saw that page earlier on a search and
not sure if other models would work.

You can pick up a replacement radio on ebay quite cheaply. What does the
radio look like? is it a normal type or one of the volvo bigger ones that
you can add a cd changer to. I've got a spare one of the volco sc series
radios I took out of my 850 and replaced it with a radio/cd unit. Quite easy
to do. It's an option for you to consider. Probably be cheaper and less
hassle than chasing the serial number for the radio. Regards - Roy
