    Don't know if a 2000 v70 is same as my 1997. My V70 is 10v 2.5 engine and
the schedulled change for timing belt was 80,000 miles.

  4. i have a used 2000 v70r i am looking at...it has 85k miles on it...i
asked if the timing belt had been serviced...and i wad told it does not
require service until 105,000 miles...that seems a bit long...my other
volvo's require change at or around what you stated Andy... 80,000
    miles...

The engine is an interference model. The recommended change interval
is 105,000 miles. Both belt and tensioner must be replaced.

For 1998 models, the change interval is 70,000 miles similar to the
    '95 - '97 850.

I would also very strongly suggest you replace the idler and water pump too-
    and the auxilary drive belt.
