08 volvo s60 t DRL

Hello, I have read many online items discussing DRL on a 2008 s60. I am wondering if the DRLs can be turned off on the S60 without visiting a dealer equipped with VADIS? I understand this can be accomplished by moving the Head Light Control switch to the parking light position allowing the low beam headlamps to be off and the parking lights to be lit. I am dealing with a user that may get this confused and not turn the parking lights off in daylight hours thus causing a dead battery. This auto is in Central Pa and needs to be operated several times a week to maintain battery life, in some years there are frigid winter temps as in the 20/21season. Thank You in advance
