My 1988 740 GL starts and runs and restarts sweetly all day provided that I start the motor in the morning when it is cold. So long as it's started in the cold of day it will start at any time for the rest of the day. But, if I leave the first start till after midday when the outside temperature has reached 18c - 20c, it fires once, stalls and will NOT start for the rest of the day.
Hence my modus operandi is: fire it up in the cool of the morning and it will restart at any time and any temperature for the rest of the day. Leave it till outside temp has risen and it's just "forget about it; it will not start".
Any positive diagnostic help will be a godsend. Help!
