2000 S40 w/no tail lights

The tail lights on my 2000 S40 have stopped working. The brake lights, rear
fog light, turn signals etc. all still work. I suspect that it is the
headlight switch, but would welcome any other ideas.

Mine did the same thing. I took it to the dealer and got a bunch of lies.
They told me it was a short in the loom somewhere. Wrong.... I suppected the
ECM and asked them to trouble shoot it. They said it was ok, another
lie..... I ended up installing a switch bypassing the ECM. I think its
called an ECM, don't have my book with me. But that solved the problem.. I
just have an extra switch to turn on when I turn my lights on... If you
want I can tell you the process for installing the switch. Its really not
that hard. Hope this helps.
