I am considering purchasing (after a test drive) the new S40(4005 T5). There
has been allot of discussion on this news group about Volvo S40s and 50
being a Ford design etc. I did have a P1800 and later a 540 which gave
wonderful service and in later years I've lost track of the what Volvo has
done in the market. I'm beginning to have reservations about buying a new
one whether it be called a Ford or something else. My understanding from
newspaper articles was that Ford bought a 40% stock in Volvo which gave
Volvo a larger market presents and Ford got some of Volvos safety research
data and patent use. I care less about those who say" I am a Ford person or
Volvo person". What I want is a safe, comfortable, dependable vehicle to
enjoy and have some fun with without the hassle of frequent trips to the
shop for repairs. Comments from late model owners would be welcome as to
their experience with the S40 or S60 series vehicles. thank you Ed Hayes
