Struts doesnot lift in winter(-20 c) but fine in summer.one previous
thread on a 240 seems to indicate that for a sedan you will need a
bracket to compress the new struts.
    what's the procedure?
Haynes book seem to indicate that you need to remove ONE clip only to
install one end and HOOK the other end into a horizontal catch/bar

    Thank you for anticipated advice.

There is no need for special tool. From memory all you need is
something to remove a circlip and a screw driver. Haynes is correct.

I do it with my fingers, you do want someone to stand and hold the trunk lid
up though while you do it, it's quite heavy.

Done.Removing was not too difficult.I have to climb inside the
trunk/boot and use a s pair of locking pliers to press the new plastic
hooks in.otherwise my fingers are not strong enough.
thanks to all who replied and confirmed that unlike the 200 series, the
700 series do not require a special tool.
