    Hi All,

My drivers side window on my 1989 Volvo 760GLE is busted. I roll up
the window and it goes chunk-a-chunk-a-chunk when it hits the top of
the frame and there is a gap on the top left side.

I can use my hand to guide it up, but thats getting real old, real
fast. My mechanic warned me that the window could at somepoint just
fall straight down into the door panel and break if not replaced. This
sound fishy, but what do I know?

Anyhoo, these are the prices I have found/quoted for replacement

Mechanic source - $230.02 No way!
    www.autohausaz.com - $129.99 for 1989 regulator NEW.
    www.vlvworld.com - $50 for 1988 regulator/motor combo USED.

vlvworld doesn't have a driver side listed for the 1989. Are the '88
and '89 the same or should I pony up for the new one from autohaus?

    Thanks all!

    -Bob

If the motor is still working, you may find that the problem is lose or
missing nuts from the studs on the regulator and not the regulator itself.
Remove the interior door panel - Haynes poorly describes the procedure,
position the window, and using Loc-Tite, tighten the nuts. One of the studs
tends to be partially hidden behind the door handle mechanism. If any of
the nuts are missing look for them in the bottom of the door.
