Has anyone out there changed an in tank fuel pump in 83 240? I cannot
get the fuel lines off the access hatch. One is attached with a line
clamp, i unscrew the clamp and the hose slides straight off. The
other has no clamp (the return fuel line), but will not pull off.
Pulling on the hose reveals a black rippled surface, looks plastic. The
rubber will move about 2-3 cm before becoming very rigid, once the
pressure is released it returns to its original position. I've tried
sliding a coathanger into the line to attempt to break any vacuum
inside the hose, but this acheived nothing. Am i simply pulling the
insulation off the hose? The end of the hose inside the engine bay is
attached with brass bolts, but there is nothing of the sort at the tank
end. Maybe it is a solid fuel line? Please help, without the pump
replaced the car is useless in hot weather, and all the local volvo
mechanics are on holidays. I'm worried if i dont get it replaced while
the weather is cool i wont be able to drive it to any of these mechanics

Update: never mind, i followed the lines through until i found a banjo
bolt and fed the fuel line through the rear axle assembly. This gave
me enough play to open the tank and replace the pump, problem is now
    gone
