Hi there

It's not easy to find stuff about the 2 litre T5 (210 HP) other than it's
supposed to be a special Italian version due to their high taxes on cars
with more than 2.0 litres of displacement.

But has it been sold on any other markets, and os there any (negative)
stories about this engine? I think it's called B5204T, but I'm not sure.

Thnx in advance,

You are correct with the engine designation and it was for italian markets
only due to their car tax rules. However it was 180bhp, not 210 AFAIK.

Yep, italian it is. The few sites I've found says 210 HP, but maybe they're
wrong.

Do you know of anything negative about the B5204T?

Yes, its bascially the 2.0 litre 20v NA engine with the same cams but
lowered compression ratio, under piston oil sprayers, and fitted with the
T5's motronic management.

Obviously never driven one, but if it follows after the NA 2 litre it would
be quite peaky with not alot of go below 2500rpm, getting stronger at around
3000rpm when the turbo starts to blow and only really getting going after
4500rpm.

Guten Abend, Henryk ;o)

Today, my friend and I took the car for a drive (it's for sale by a privat
person). I must admit, it's wonderful to drive and has a great engine. I was
worried that it would lack power in low revs, but that didn't seem to be a
problem.

The car has 267.000 km's on it, but I could'n feel that at all. Shifts
through the gears (auto) are very smooth, and the engine sounds like new.
When it passes 3-4.000 rpm, it goes like a rocket ;o)

In German (which I believe Henryk speaks, but I on the other doesn't master
that well...):

EUR.
Wahnsinn!

Thanks. Spare parts (if needed) should be easily obtainable then, I guess.

I've driven one today. Actually, it's quite harmonic to drive. Off course
it's power outlet is large, but in a very linear way. No significant turbo
lag and no "sudden" turbo boost. Obviously, is has more power the higher the
rev's...

I haven't driven any other 850 Turbo's, so of course my opinion is not worth
a lot when comparing various versions of the 850 T's.

100 PS: 54.000 usw, usw..... Danke sind die Steuer von 180% (und, natürlich,
+ MwSt!)

Das macht ganz natürlich gebrauchte Autos sehr teuer:
Ein gut gebrauchter Golf 1.6 EZ '99 kostet typisch rund 20.000 Euro. Mein
Fabia/206-klasse.

According to my Pocket Data Book there are 3 different 2 litre turbos:
B5204 T - 210hp, 155kw
B5204 T2 - 175hp, 129kw (Mot. 4.3); 180hp, 132kw (Mot 4.4)
B5204 T3 - 225hp, 166kw

I guess this is where the confusion comes from.
