Seen a nice 97 850R, all the bells and whistles, good comprehensive service
history, below average miles. What are the pit-falls with these cars apart
from a speeding ticket.

Just the same as any 850 and T5 from the era. Is it auto or manual?

Buy on condition and service records rather than milage.

Make sure it is actually an R (right interior, and bumpers and wheels) and
not a dressed up t5!

Tim.

Alistair, given what you said, I would go with it, assuming the price
isn't too dear. I have a '97 850 non-R and could not be happier.

If you got the vin number its easy to check if its an original R model. Else
the R model has leather / alcantara interiour. T5 models have full leather
or leather / cloth.

Just found a picture to show the interiour

Also the leather in the bottom of the steering wheel and on the parking
brake handle is unique to the R model.
