89' 740T - Heated seat not functioning

Discussion in 'Volvo 740' started by Norbert Ricafort, Jan 28, 2004.

  1. The heating on my driver side seat is not functioning, and the passenger
side has some heat but I know it could get warmer. Not exactly sure where to
start and check, does anyone have any good advice for this issue?

    Thanx in advance...

  2. Hi -

I have a 240DL that has the same problem... After some investigation,
turns out the heating elements disintegrate on some models after a
    period of time.

I know that the seat heating elements are replaceable, but am not sure
how much they cost or the exact procedure. I live near a really good
Volvo specialist and the seats are a real b*tch to deal with, so I leave
    that to them.

Unfortunatly the elements in the 700 series, at least the '87 that I have
are integrated into the seat foam, rather than removeable as in the 240. 240
seats are actually very easy to deal with, they come out of the car and come
apart very easily and are not much of a pain to get back together either.
700 seats are a bit tougher to get out but come apart pretty much the same
way. I cut the uphostery clips and replace them with nylon zip ties.
