Phillips head screwdriver unless they are a few Torks 25 about.

Two screws at front of shift lever shroud alllow it to be lifted up and out
of the way. Just tape or tie it up instead of trying in vain to get it or
the shift handle off.

Switch is screwed to the braket mounted in the tub.

Remove and replace getting pin from lever in correct place.

Adjust by pulling system/fuel relay out so auto won't start or needllesly
pumping fuel so starter only turns over in Park or Neutral and reverse
lights are on in reverse with lever at rest.

If you are having trouble, you might want to check the bushings on the rod
between the shift lever and the transmission dog. Under auto on left side
of tranny. There should be a white bushing between the rod and the
lever/dog.

Without them, the shift lever flops around and sometimes does not make
contact as it should.

What tools, and how to change neutral safety start switch?

This job is a piece of cake. Don't be afraid to pull the carpet back
around the lever toward the driver's pedals. There are some snap-on
connections under there. Check your shift light wire while you are
there. They rub and short over time.

One thing, to get the pie-shaped switch up and out of the assembly,
don't be afraid to pull the stick to the side and pry away the switch
so the pin will release.
