940 Turbo Fuel Gauge Trouble

Discussion in 'Volvo 940' started by Check This Out!, Oct 11, 2006.

  1. I think I may have isolated the fuel gauge issue to an area under the dash. It seems that a group of wires are on a connector that connects to the dash board panel. I was told by a friend that this may be called a cluster. If I apply pressure to the connector the gauge works, but once I let go it doesn't. I tried removing and crimping the pins so that the connection would be tighter but no long term success. ANY IDEAS and what is this actually called and how difficult is it to fit?

    Thanks

    Hi Ron
Just bought a 1991 turbo estate (wagon) myself with similar problems, tirns out the problem is with continuity on the printed circuit behind the instument panel, have a look at http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/faq/ElectricalInstruments.html#GaugesStopWorkingIntermittently and http://www.volvo-forums.com/t10636-warning-lights-not-coming-on-at-ignition.htm you might find them a help, also a lot more info on both sites, any problems e-mail me

    Regards
