95 T5R engine

My engine seized last night, anybody know where I can buy a used one
or a rebuilt engine?

Where are you??

T5 engines don't grow on trees, best bet would be to find a local scrapyard
that deals in newer European cars, I don't think the R motor itself is any
different than the normal T5, that'll be a rather expensive motor though,
next time keep oil in it.

The R motor is different from the T5. The R motor are at 250 bhp with manual
trans. 245 bhp with automatic trans.
The T5 motor are at 225? bhp.

I still don't think the *motor* is any different, the ECU certainly is, as
well as the turbo in the R may be a bit larger, but the extra power is
created by higher boost and a different injection curve.

It is different, why would Volvo give it a different name, B5234T5, if it
was only the Ecu?
I know at least the main end bearings are stronger, i think the injectors
are bigger too.
Of course you could get a B5234T and use that, it will for sure hold up for
that small power increase.

Dont know what have seized, but i prefer to repair the old engine, then you
know what you have, buying a used is always a risk.

Isn't the B5234T5 used in all the T5's, not just the R? If not then I stand
corrected.

1st of all, I blew a gasket on the interstate and lost most of my oil
in about 5 miles. Second, the engine is seized hard, there is NO
rebuilding without major resleaving, which is a no-no in a Volvo.
3rd, there is only 3 engines in a 95 850 -

normal aspired

and T5R

All T5R engines are the same regardless of what the tranny is, the
only difference is the manual put out 5 more horsepower do to the gear
ratio

The difference in a T5R engine and a regular turbo is the oil lines
and the way the water is routed through the engine, and they are only
slightly different. So do not try and put a T5R turbo on a regular
turbo engine as it will blow the engine apart. The extra HP developed
by the T5R comes from bigger injectors and the waste gate on a T5R are
electronically controlled, while normal tubos are vacuumed controlled.
This makes the T5R turbo more efficent.

Have to correct you on some points.

There are more engines than what you say, perhaps the number is limited
where you live, but worldwide the number is larger, I just counted 9
different engines in 1995.

All 2.3 litre T5R engines are named B5234T5 and are off course the same. In
some countries there was a cheaper 2.0 litre version with 225 bhp, B5204T3.
The ECU program in the manual and auto version differs slightly. The effect
in both version is 240 bhp at 5600 rev, but the torque is limited to 300 Nm
in the auto compared to 330 Nm in the maual version.

The B5234T and B5234T5 engines have the same injectors, same oillines etc.
They both have electronically controlled wastegate.
The B5234T5 engine is basically a B5234T engine with up to 30 seconds
overboost raising the effect from 225 hp to 240 hp.
