745 TDI 1989 Bosch ABS with new style sensors.

I have located my low speed ABS-engaging problem to the left wheel sensor
or cable. Right sensor cable connection in engine compartment opened,
resistance in wheel sensor circuit 1100 Ohm, ok. Left side no current going
through, so left side cable (very probable, since insulation damaged) or
wheel sensor out of order. I want to locate further and measure the cable
and sensor separately so I have to get access to the connection between
cable and sensor. I could easily open the Allen (? hexagonal hole) screw
but could not remove the plastic cover on the sensor, into which the cable
disappears. Of course I could not remove the wheel sensor without removing
hub etc. I do not yet want to remove the hub etc and do not want to have to
remove the sticking sensor myself, if not necessary. If I could access the
connection between cable and sensor I could measure resistances in cables
and sensor separately and decide what to purchase and change. I have heard
the cables are soldered in place, correct? Or plugged?

Thanks for any input.

The sensor comes with about 5 feet of cable. Locate the plug by
following the wire.
